FAQ's
Sponsors receive the child’s informational card, annual Christmas cards, and periodic updates on their progress. These updates include a handwritten report, prayer requests, and a recent photo. Should there be any major changes concerning your child, you will receive a letter from the Home Office informing you about the situation.
One of the best things you can do for the children is pray for them. Pray that the biblical teaching they receive will take root in their hearts and be used by God to produce true faith and fruit. Pray for their physical and spiritual protection. Pray that they will grow in godliness and learn how to make wise choices. We also encourage you to build a relationship with your child by writing letters; each of them would love to hear from you!
If you receive a request for money, direct or implied, please contact the Rafiki Foundation immediately. Rafiki's orphan care program provides for all the needs of the children.
1. Go to Rafiki's homepage at rafikifoundation.org.
2. Click the avatar (looks like a small man in a gray circle) at the top and sign in to your account.
3. Click the avatar again and select “My Sponsored Children” from the dropdown menu.
4. Click the menu button to the right of the name of the child you would like to write and select “Write a Letter” from the options provided.
5. Type your letter into the field provided and upload up to three pictures you would like to include.
Rafiki batches letters from the website once per quarter and sends them to the Villages. Please send just one message per child per quarter.
To view a response from your child through the website, follow the steps above to log in. Click the avatar and select “My Letters.” In the list provided, search for letters labeled “Child to Sponsor” (other letters are copies of what you previously sent to your child). Click on the menu button to the right of the desired letter and select “View/Print Letter.”You may send cards, letters, or photos that fit in a standard-size envelope. Please do not send packages or money to Africa, as they could incur customs and collection fees that may exceed the value of the contents. Checks and traveler's checks drawn from American banks cannot be cashed in Africa.
An additional $20 per year may be contributed to the account of children in the ChildCare Program to help cover the cost for the Village to purchase gifts locally. Day students may not receive these gifts. All orphans in Rafiki Villages receive gifts of the same amount from their sponsors to ensure equity between them. If you wish to send something special, the children love pictures of your family or interesting places you visit. To ensure timely arrival at the Village, cards should be sent four to six weeks in advance.
