Dr. Anika T. Prather earned her B.A. from Howard University in elementary education.   She has a Masters in liberal arts from St. John’s College (Annapolis) and a PhD in English, Theatre and Literacy Education from the University of Maryland (College Park).   She has served as a teacher, supervisor for student teachers, director of education and Head of School.  Currently she teaches in the Classics dept at Howard University and is the founder of The Living Water School, located in Southern Maryland.  The Living Water School is a unique Christian school for independent learners, based on the educational philosophies of Classical Education and the Sudbury Model.

She is married to Damon M. Prather an engineer and has an MBA (Wisconsin-Madison). He also serves as the financial manager of the school.   She and her husband Damon, have three young children, and as a family they have an urban farm where they raise angora rabbits. They reside in the DC metropolitan area.

Our Bible Study

Originally written by eighteen notable theologians over a period of thirteen years for English-speaking Africans, the lessons have been re-edited for worldwide use. Each lesson consists of printed notes with questions for discussion and a recommended commentary on the book of the Bible being studied. All sixty-six books of the Bible are available!

Rafiki Sunday School

Adapted from the Rafiki Bible Study, Rafiki Sunday School Lessons are designed to guide Sunday school teachers through teaching the Bible.

ACCS Survey

Read the results of  2018-19 comparative study of 24-42 year old alumni from public, secular private, Catholic, evangelical Christian, religious homeschool, and ACCS (classical Christian) schools, on topics of life-choices, preparation, attitudes, values, opinions, and practices.  This research seems to confirm what history has repeatedly demonstrated—classical Christian education can influence the course of a home, a community, or a nation

Rafiki Curriculum

The Rafiki Classical Christian Curriculum is a full-orbed, liberal arts educational system. From PreK-12th grade, Rafiki’s curriculum integrates key academic subjects, focusing on the great books of Western civilization, built on the foundation of God’s Word. Students’ minds and affections are fostered to consider what is true, good, and beautiful.
