Faith from the Students to their Families
Daily Bible study, faithful prayer, Home Devotion pages, and discussion. Over the course of one year at the Rafiki School in Malawi, a mother watched in awe as these practices transformed her daughter’s life. Eager to learn more herself, the mother began soaking in God’s Word through the Home Devotion pages.
As she studied the Book of Isaiah, the intimidation that once caused her to skip over the book melted away, and joy and understanding took its place. Yet she desired more—more understanding and a deeper love for Jesus.
Thrilled by both her daughter’s growth and her own increasing knowledge, the mother asked if she might observe teacher devotions at Rafiki. Word reached missionary Anna Liebing, who joyfully invited her to attend a weekly in-service meeting. For an hour, the teachers gathered to review and prepare the upcoming Bible lessons on Ecclesiastes. The mother eagerly participated as far as she was able, listening to every word and diligently taking notes.
At the end of the lesson, she approached Anna with a radiant smile and warmly shook her hand. “Thank you so much, madam, for allowing me to come! I have been eager to see the way you study the Bible here, and after listening today, I have learned that I have never really known how to read the Bible. I thank God that now I have learned something important about how to read my Bible!”
God’s Word does not return void! What began in the heart of one student has now taken root in the home, reaching a family and awakening a hunger for Scripture in a mother’s heart.
