Serah
Serah’s journey with Rafiki began in 2010 when she joined as a day student in grade 8. At a pivotal moment in her life—after struggling academically and nearly giving up—Rafiki became a place where God met her, guiding her through school and into a deeper walk with Him. She later joined the Rafiki Institute of Classical Education in Kenya for further training and was eventually hired as a pre-K teacher, where she taught for six years.
During her time in the classroom, Serah experienced God’s call to a new field: the Rafiki Outreach Program. Initially unsure of her ability to step beyond teaching, she prayed for guidance and found confidence in God’s leading. “He tells us where he sends us, he will lead,” she reflects, a truth she has seen lived out in her second year in Outreach. In this role, she now impacts more than 1000 students across schools and churches, providing them with Bible studies, curriculum, and resources. Serah trains teachers, follows up with schools, and ensures that materials are faithfully used, empowering others to disciple effectively.
Her personal walk with God has deepened through these experiences. Originally from a Catholic background, Serah wrestled with questions of faith as a teenager, ultimately coming to know the true Gospel through careful study and prayer. In 2025, she was baptized and became a church member, experiencing the blessing of fellowship and accountability: “Very happy to fellowship with those saints every Sunday and the fact that we walk together, edifying one another, praying for each other. Such a blessing.”
Serah’s faith also shapes her family. She enrolled her son in the Rafiki School at age three so she could walk with him in learning God’s Word. Together, they sing hymns, discuss the Bible, and explore creation, nurturing a love for God from a tender age.
Through Outreach, classroom teaching, and family discipleship, Serah embodies the mission of Rafiki: multiplying the impact of God’s Word across generations. She credits the support of Rafiki donors as vital to her work, encouraging them to continue their giving, knowing the countless lives being touched: “You are actually impacting so many lives without your knowledge… all that I can pray for is that the Lord will continue to provide for you so that you can provide for us here in Kenya and around all the Rafiki Villages so that we can continue to tell people more about Christ.”
Serah’s story is one of obedience, trust, and the exponential impact of faithful discipleship—proof that when God calls, he equips, and the seeds planted in a single life can grow to bless thousands.
