I’ll start with a couple of updates.
Adam has healed from his appendectomy and is back to his normal life. I think he learned how God created our bodies to heal, yet it is not instant.
Medi has had some good eye checkups. Her eye pressure is remaining normal without eye drops, and her vision improved to the level that she was prescribed reading glasses to help her in class.
We had a recent visit from our Home Office staff. Lisa, the ChildCare Supervisor, and I took a picture with our three Rafiki Mamas and substitute Mama.
Rafiki Communications and Widows Program Director, Karen Gobert, and I also visited our new local widows’ group where they are weaving and sewing items.
Life here has been routine. We had a school break which also ushered in the Rwandan 100-day memorial time of the 1994 Genocide Against the Tutsis. There are some District meetings the students will attend later this month that involve hearing testimonies from survivors.
Our twelveth grade residents are studying each night for their final exams that will cover material from tenth to twelveth grade lessons. At least the girls are studying. The guys have not asked for special accommodations for quiet places to study. They probably think they read the instructions the first time and are good to go!
Claire visited her mother again. She had not had a visit since February. We have encouraged this lady to learn weaving or do some simple gardening to occupy her time throughout the day. Well, this time Claire brought me two small items that her mom made for me. She is learning how to weave. I kept this one which are the colors of the Rwandan flag and gave Claire the other one that is a red and white stripe.
