McMahon October 2026
The year was 1993, and I was in kindergarten. Every Tuesday morning, my mom and I carpooled to Bible Study Fellowship (BSF), which was one of the highlights of my week. We sang, played, memorized Bible verses and learned from the Book of Acts. What exciting stories! Jesus’ followers suddenly speaking dozens of languages they had never learned. Peter and John healing a lame man with just words. Saul getting stopped in his tracks by a blinding light and a voice from the sky and then becoming a missionary for the same beliefs he had persecuted. Those stories of his missionary journeys awakened my heart’s desire, even at such a young age, to travel around the world and tell others about Jesus.
Fast forward to 2026. I have learned that the same woman who started Rafiki, Rosemary Jensen, was the director of BSF when I was in that kindergarten class. And now I have been in Rwanda for over two years doing the thing I had been inspired to do. Not only that, we have also just finished studying the Book of Acts for our school-wide Bible study. Talk about coming full circle!
After we finished, I asked students and teachers, “What did you learn?” Here’s just a few answers:
“How to be courageous.” – Elementary student
“If God can change Paul, he can change anyone.” – Junior high student
“We will meet trials in our life, but we can stay strong.” – High school student
“Paul was a great teacher. He inspires me to try to reach all my students.” – Rafiki teacher
What a treasure of lifelong lessons! Join me in praying that this study has planted true seeds that will grow into indelible commitments by children and adults to serve the Lord boldly and proclaim His message wherever they go.

By the time you read this, I will likely already be in Massachusetts for a visit from October 10-28. I am planning to present at the annual Missions Sunday at First Congregational Church of Hamilton on October 18. I would also like to see as many of you in that area as possible. If you have not already contacted me, feel free to email or text me to set up a time to visit.
