“His Word is not mere intellectual light, but spiritual life and celestial fire… [R]ead it with burning hearts and glowing love as the love letter of His affection and the mirror of His face” A.B. Simpson.

Hello and greetings from Ghana!

What mental pictures are painted in your mind as you read the above quote? During the recent teachers’ in-service, our devotions pondered the beauty in those words, studied the hymn, “Lord, Speak to Me That I May Speak,” and explored the virtue of self-denial. Please pray that those lessons will continue to inspire excellence, build unity and encourage a love of Truth.

God’s Word is celestial fire

The flame trees are reminders that my heart should be glowing with a fire of love for God and His Word. I give thanks that we start the school day singing and studying the Bible.

God’s Word is spiritual life

March 5, 1995 was my “Spiritual Life Day.” I was re-born and adopted into the Family of God! On March 5, 2019, my first grandson, Ivan Peniel, was born to Blandina and Prosper. Many of you prayed fervently, thank you so much. His birth is a wonderful miracle. Please pray for their continued health, His Spiritual Life Day to be as early as possible, and Blandina to be able to teach in Moshi so Melissa can start preschool at Rafiki.

God’s Word is a love letter of His affection

On April 18, I was able to hold Ivan for the first time as I spent the long Easter weekend at the Rafiki Tanzania Village. I give thanks for such a sweet visit. Blandina worked very hard to arrange Ivan’s baptism so I could attend, and I am forever grateful.

Four of my other daughters and three granddaughters were able to visit. This was a living love letter to our hearts celebrating an affectionate God.

These three daughters currently teach at Rafiki.

Mamesho teaches at a private school and is planning her marriage for year’s end. Please pray for all of them as they walk as wise women of God.

God’s love letter has also been updated in Ghana! When I served in Ghana from 2005-2008, Magdalene was one of my students. She is now married, a mother of three and owns a supply shop. Two of her children attend the Rafiki School. God is so kind to allow me to meet her again!

God’s Word is a mirror of His face

I know God used the reconciliation with my sweet earthly father to help me relate more clearly to Him as my heavenly Father. Dad served several times in Ghana and I see his “reflection” in many ways each day. May 2 marked the one-year memorial of his passing. It was a very hard week.

My dear friend Nancy sent me this photo taken in Ghana in February 2007. Dad loved God’s Word and reflected it in his daily life.

Another picture of God’s Word reflecting His beauty is seen in the students here in Ghana. The first picture was taken in the dining hall, decorated for Independence Day. Next, they walk in a line (mostly).

I am eternally grateful for all of your support and prayers.

Until next time…
