Kucko Sep 2018

Yes, the children are growing in stature for sure! It is hard to realize that some that are now very tall were just “little ones” five or six years ago. The photos below were picked to show that this “little guy” Awumbe has now grown to be his mother’s helper when he is on school break from his special school
in Accra.

This is our prayer; that the children also grow in the grace and knowledge of the Lord. Please pray with us for their hearts to be drawn close to Him and they would hunger to know Him deeply.

It seems to me that I have already spoken about most that I can think of that happens here, but before I go on with that, I want to give an additional “Thank You” to the many who hosted me during my time in the States in July. It was good to see some of you that I hadn’t seen in several or more years. I returned to Ghana on August 1 and to duties on
the second.

In the past month, the children have been interviewed and observed so as to be able to write the letters that go to each of their sponsors telling something about them personally. We are now in the process of putting that information into a spreadsheet that Home Office will turn into an informative letter and photo to the sponsor.

A recent project underway for a bit is the preparation to administer to the several hundred students and staff a common medicine given several times a year to protect against parasites.

Another project has been the preparation and hosting of a “give away” for the staff and teachers of items we could no longer use but still had some use left in them. So numbers were picked and some faces were jubilant and some thoughtful as they received the item number that matched their picked number. Now that the storage area for those items has been cleared and other items moved to different locations, that unoccupied cottage can be prepared for revamping into more school rooms.

In early August, the whole team of four here were back together, so a Fun, Game, and Snack night was held with the students who earned A’s and B’s during the term that ended in July. They were all Primary Students. It was fun to interact with them on a different level than normal for me.

Since no Junior or Senior high student did well on the finals for the term that finished in July, they all are on a required study hour between school close time and supper time.

Please pray with us that the students will use the required study time well.

Towards the end of each month, cottage supplies are purchased at the market in Accra and then each cottage mother’s needs for the month for her house are put together for her to come and pick up.

Also, we are currently looking over those resident children who will go on “home visits” this next school break coming soon. Our national helper to the Village Administrator checks with the extended family person and ascertains if the facility the child will be staying in is acceptable by Ghanian standards.
