I will run in the way of your commandments when you enlarge my heart!” (Psalm 119:32).

Dear friends and family,

What a vivid picture is painted by Psalm 119:32! Imagine a big-hearted people of God, energetically and joyously living out His ways in their communities. Imagine people who look to the good of others. Imagine people who keep no record of wrongs. Imagine well-educated people who are committed to doing their work with excellence and integrity.

This inspiring image contrasts with the critical eye of “reality.” We often see in ourselves distressingly small hearts, and if we are walking in the way of God it’s with a halting step at best. The eye of faith sees something rather more encouraging.

This verse speaks of a future fruitful life initiated by and based on a sure work of God. Isn’t this the hope we have for every child who attends school at Rafiki? Our preschool students have such enthusiasm for their studies and such love for their teachers. Taking a peek into one of their classrooms is a preview of this image of large hearts and fleet-footed faithfulness.

Day Student Joel
We can’t wait to see how Joel will use his writing skills in the future

The kindergarten students have spent this school year learning many new skills, including cursive writing. What started out as a seemingly impossible task has become one of their favorite times of the morning. Led by RICE graduate teachers who love them, they happily trace and copy the graceful letters and words. They sing quietly along with the instrumental music playing softly in the background. How many of them will grow to use their writing skills for the good of Tanzania? Will they write laws? Compose theological works? Author books? May God enlarge their hearts so they will run (and write) in
His ways.

The three year olds are gaining knowledge and confidence academically, spiritually, and physically. Taking a walk with Madam Nice during recess, they hold onto a rope to help them remember how to walk in line. They are happy to walk in the way of their teacher on this sunny day, and even engage in a playful game of tug-of-war. Will some of them run marathons? Dance ballet? May they use their growing strength to follow God as joyfully as they follow Madam Nice.

The students are young, but God is powerful and faithful. We do see evidence of God enlarging hearts here at Rafiki Tanzania. With His help and yours we are running the race. Please pray for God to confirm this work in every student at the Rafiki School for the good of this country and for His glory.
