McKeighen Sept 2020

Even youths shall faint and be weary, and young men shall fall exhausted; but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles; they shall run and not be weary; they shall walk and not faint” (Isaiah 40:30-31).

This scripture has been a constant reminder over the last several months on the importance of our focus. Are our eyes on COVID-19, or on the Lord? Are they on the government or the Savior? Are we living in fear or faith? Isaiah clearly reminds us that those who “wait upon Him,” will gain new strength. Yet how hard it is sometimes to wait.

Over these months we have seen many changes in plans as we have endeavored to meet the educational, spiritual, and physical needs of our children and day students. It has seemed that each plan made was somehow thwarted by the unseen enemy. Our policy had become prepare (get ready), then wait. In day to day life, it seemed like “hurry up and wait.”

As followers of Christ we are called to do these things. Yes, we are to prepare, but also to watch and wait. We can be prepared by studying God’s Word, seeking, and obeying Him. And as we do, we are to be watchful and wait for His guidance, His blessing, AND His return. But while we watch and wait—we work. We work for His kingdom and His glory. Galatians 5:25 tells us, “If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit .” This should be reflected in our lives no matter what our circumstances. Let us fulfill God’s calling on our lives by “looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith” (Hebrews 12:2).

Secondary school has reopened in Liberia and we are awaiting the “all clear” to reopen the primary and preschool classes. In the meantime, teachers are preparing work for these young ones to do at home. Resident children continue to help care for the Village and spend time in regular Bible study using the RBS. So, we prepare, we watch, and we wait for God’s timing in all things trusting that He will provide all we need.

Here are a few pictures from around the Village.
