McKeighen Mar 2018

Dear friends and family,

"For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:37-39).

How many times have you read this scripture? Today I decided to meditate on each aspect of this and let it really sink in and flow over me. It seems to cover every aspect of everything that causes struggles, anxiety, and even fear in our lives. Anything that happens in death or life, He has it covered with His love. Supernatural beings? Powers?…Covered! The future?…Got it! To believe this is to know that we will never be alone no matter what God brings into our lives. Even as Jesus commissioned us, “Go, therefore, and make disciples of all nations… and behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age,” we have the promise of God’s faithfulness to us (Matthew 28:19-20).

I often look at the task that has been placed before me here and feel the inadequacy of the vessel. Living on a compound with eighty-six children, over half of them teenagers, has its challenges. Yet each one of these creatures is created in the image and likeness of our God. Each one has this same promise. God has a plan for each and every life. This vessel is here to help them find their way. And so I ask you to pray to the Lord of the harvest to bring forth fruit abundantly, to empower His workers, to send more laborers.

Something you should know about Africa, the harvest is plentiful.

So if you are looking for the next chapter in the book of your life, you may need look no farther than across the pond. If God can use me here, inadequate as I am, He can surely use you. Openings are available. The Lord of the harvest is accepting the willing. Is He calling you?

And so, dear friends, wherever you are, whatever God has called you to do, remember the promise, He is “with you always”. We need not fear what is in the future. We need only to step out and trust. (Proverbs 3:5-6).

The following picture is Rafiki’s fourth graduating class in Ghana. With six students, four day students and two resident, all are aspiring to continued education in areas including nursing and engineering. Rafiki’s quality education gives them that hope. We pray they will find the means to accomplish their goals. They will tell you the greatest asset they received at Rafiki was strong Biblical teaching.

Isaac, pictured below, is one of JHS prefects. I asked another student if he was liked as a prefect. She said some like and some do not. My next question was why? “Because he tells the truth.” That can be unpopular, but it is popular with me. Good job Isaac!

Thank you for your continued support. Your heart to give and pray are what makes me able to be here and press on. You, too, are a vessel God has made useful in this work!
