Lam Jan 2020

Dear friends and Rafiki partners in the Gospel of Jesus Christ,

Blessings for the New Year 2020, and a new decade. I am blessed to be on home leave again and I have been thoroughly encouraged to see many of you in Singapore. It is good to recount what God has done in the past to fuel hope for the future. All glory to the Lord!

This is how God has granted blessing, favor, and severe mercy to Rafiki Village Malawi in 2019.

#1 We all, that is nearly 400 persons, completed the Rafiki Bible Study in First and Second Timothy, Titus, and the fifth book of the Psalms. We started First Peter and are still currently in it. The teaching of His Word could not be interrupted even when there was trouble in the Village and a shortage of long-term missionaries. The power that overshadowed Mary to conceive baby Jesus, the power that raised Jesus from the dead, is the same power that is working on Rafiki Village Malawi to transform the hearts and minds of the people in the Village. The Gospel is taking root! God has done it!

#2 The teacher training program, known as the Rafiki Institute of Classical Education (RICE), leapt forward from meeting to meeting—nearly a dozen of them—and is now awaiting an inspection by the Malawian National Council for Higher Education in support of accreditation of RICE. We are only one step away from the ability to work with the University of Livingstonia to award the Diploma in Christian Classical Education Early Childhood Education Development. The fruit of labor in God’s Kingdom takes time. Seven RICE students graduated from the program in 2019 armed with the tools of classical learning to take on the church schools. God will do it!

#3 The thirty-two teachers and 300 students have completed four terms in 2019. On January 13, 2020, we opened to a historic term five in the same academic calendar 2019/2020. This move takes the school to one term ahead of the Malawi national school calendar so that parents and guardians can appreciate all is being done to support their desire for their children to be well educated and not lag behind. For the first time this year, eighteen grade level twelve students will sit for the national test to demonstrate that an education taught from a biblical worldview and classically is the solution to Malawi’s problems. God is doing it!

I hope you will include Rafiki Village Malawi in your daily prayers and also consider support to the Village in any of the following ways:

Sponsor one of the youths featured here in U.S. Dollars at $2,500 a year, or SGD 3,400 a year. Monthly donations are also available. Rafiki provides all of the housing, food, clothing, supplies, medical care, and education for them from the day they arrive until adulthood. All of your funds given contribute 100% towards the care of the youth. You may sponsor any of them by contacting Rafiki at orphans@rafikifoundation.org or by calling (352) 483-9962 in Florida, U.S.A.

Contact https://rafikifoundation.org/opportunities-detail/short-term to sign up for the training! YOU can do it with God’s help.

The plant maintenance crew’s work is never done!

Give to the Scholarship Fund in U.S. Dollars $1,000 a year to educate one more Malawian student from the community in classical Christian education. There are 200 day students from Mzuzu attending our school from Pre-K to grade twelve (secondary four). We need another $75,000 this year in scholarship funds to continue to provide a classical Christian education for these students.

Life is too short to wait until we have completed our careers and retired before we decide to be long-term missionaries. Go forward, dear ones and experience the joy of the Lord who is your strength.

Humbled and very grateful to be a part of Rafiki Village Malawi for Jesus’ sake.
