Dear friends and family,

It is already October and it is time for an update. We have our official departure date of December 31, 2018, and we are busily organizing and completing items on our checklist. 

We have had local gatherings where we have been able to share the mission and vision of the Rafiki Foundation with others and what we will be doing in Rafiki Village Uganda as deans of the RICE Program (Rafiki’s Teacher’s College). We have been very encouraged by the responses we have received. Your encouragement and support for us these past months has been such a blessing. God is graciously providing for us abundantly, and we are very thankful.

RICE students

At Rafiki Village Uganda, our missionary team has recently been increased with the arrival of Hayley Smith, who was part of our training class this past July. She will serve as the music coordinator in the Village working with the orchestra, choirs, schools, and in the teachers college. We are thankful for her safe arrival and are excited and grateful she is part of the team in Uganda. 

Prayer Requests:

• To complete well the remaining on-line coursework training required for long term overseas Rafiki staff.

• For the remaining immunizations, medical appointments, tests, and results.

• Travel mercies for our upcoming road trip to the Midwest to share about Rafiki and our upcoming assignment.

• For God to give his grace and peace to our son and our daughter and her family, as we will be out of the U.S. for an extended term.

Please pray for the RICE Program at Rafiki Village Uganda:

• For a smooth transition as we assume responsibilities as co-deans of the RICE Program for the new term which begins on January 14, 2019.

• For favor from the National Council for Higher Education in our pursuit of RICE accreditation with partner Westminster Christian Institute Uganda.

• For patience and perseverance as we support every teacher-trainee to achieve excellence in their training and for the study from Romans to transform their hearts and lives for God’s glory.
