And the Lord, He is the One who goes before you. He will be with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you; do not fear nor be dismayed” (Deuteronomy 31:8 NKJV).

New Year Greetings to one and all,

May you and yours know and rejoice in the knowledge of the Lord as He goes with you in your steps through this New Year ahead.

It has been nearly eight and a half years since I came to Ghana to call this Village my home. Now, I find myself planning to return “home” and the one thing I am really looking forward to is catching up with my own children and renewing my friendships with many of you who have supported me in so many varied ways over these years. I continue to covet your prayers as I say “Goodbye” here and plan for my return to the States and my home in North Carolina with my daughter and her family.

I will be attending this year’s Enrichment Week at the Home Office in Florida, but beyond that, I await the Lord’s plans for me.

It has been a very quiet time over the holidays with most of the children gone on home stay visits, and all but one of the house parents as well. There are five boys and one girl remaining here. We are praying that God will guide several other families to open their hearts to receive also these few next time. There have been some special times set aside for them with walks into the nearby villages, football, swimming, movies, and bike riding. We were all together New Year’s Eve for a meal and an evening of fun and games. It was an evening of joy to observe and interact with the children in this smaller setting where some of the more reserved ones got a chance to fellowship with a few older boys and “Papa” Kojo who is helping out over his college break.

New Year’s Eve festivities

The Village is lush with flowers and greenery now—a good and blessed way for me to say goodbye to it sometime in the coming weeks. I ask that you continue to pray for me and the others who are retiring from several other Villages as we begin the transition back to life in the States with all of its changes over these last years. Please also pray for the remaining staff here at Rafiki Village Ghana to expand their roles and cover the medical needs of the children which has become quite a bit less in time consumption, since most of the children are now teens.

Thanking you for your love, care, and prayers for the children of Africa, the Rafiki Villages, and myself and others who serve the Lord here in Ghana, Africa.
