Kucko Jan 2019

Thanks be to God for His inexpressible gift (2 Corinthians 9:15).

Christmas and New Year blessings to all!

I want to open this letter with heartfelt thankfulness for all of you who have supported me in so many varied ways over these seven plus years. May God bless each of you.

These two were dressed in cultural apparel to escort me to the Village-wide celebration in honor of my eightieth birthday. They were also accompanied by the Village choir, and mothers of the two.

I knew there was going to be a celebration, but I was awestruck at the beautiful decorations, escort planning, and whole evening of blessings; truly an evening to remember and rejoice in.

As October ended, I decided that I would give myself a gift using my remaining furlough time to take a safari in Uganda in late November. I visited the Uganda Rafiki Village and then thoroughly enjoyed God’s artistic beauty in nature as we traveled through a few National Ugandan Parks to see various animals in the wild. One of those was the Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, to be ushered in with Rangers and porters to be up close to view the gorilla families in the wild. God’s creations are simply awesome.

December brought Graduation for six students.

December brought lots of various preparations for the many children who chose to spend Christmas with extended family as well as the senior boys wrapping gifts for younger boys and senior girls doing it for the younger girls. There were the term-end recitations and school exams. The children also helped organize and carry out Advent programs and, as school ended, Madam Julie prepared a Fun-Fair which was very much enjoyed. The senior high residents that were still here helped put up the Christmas decorations in the dining hall and then carry the gifts over late on Christmas eve.

Christmas day the children here attended church, and then we all had Christmas dinner together followed by the mothers delivering the gifts to their cottage of children.

If you are an “older person” like me and you think you cannot step out in your later years in service to the Lord, please pray and ask Him! If it is His Will, He will definitely go before you to enable you. Contact the Rafiki Home Office at wwww.rafikifoundation.org.

Thank you; if God is calling you, you are needed!
