“The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; his mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning” (Lamentations 3:22-23a).
Dearest friends and family,
It is early September and the students are well into their last term of the school year, and we are well into our last term in the mission field! It’s been a full and interesting twelve years of serving our Lord through Rafiki. We have many extraordinary memories to bring home, some heartwarming, some heartbreaking—all of them made possible by your generous donations and loving encouragement.
Opportunities
If you come to Africa to serve at a Rafiki Village, either as a short- or long-term missionary, you will have many opportunities! You may be asked to teach fourth grade math.

You may get a chance to walk to church with some of our resident children.

You may watch or participate in a track meet or soccer match on a new athletic facility.
New track and soccer pitch
You may listen to (or help train) an award-winning children’s choir. Our Mixed Choir and Boys Choir both have placed fourth out of the entire country!

You may get to hold a hedgehog.

You may get to gaze at the beauty and expanse of the Great Rift Valley. You may find yourself doing things you would never imagine doing in a million years—and enjoying it!

Sin
It’s been said that there is a “serpent in every paradise.” Africa is no exception of course. We occasionally get reminded of this truth. No one is immune from the effects of evil in this world.

But God is great, and God is faithful. He is sovereign and knows what is best, even (or especially) when we suffer. “For the Lord will not cast off forever, but, though he cause grief, he will have compassion according to the abundance of his steadfast love; for he does not afflict from his heart or grieve the children of men” (Lamentations 3:31-33).
Future Plans
We have seen and done many interesting and unexpected things over the past twelve years in Africa! God has been good in seeing us through! But I (Paul) have some health issues to sort out, and we, as mentioned in our last newsletter, feel it is time to give some new missionaries a chance to serve the Lord in Kenya. Maybe you are that missionary!
May the Lord continue to watch over you and bless you abundantly!
“Great is your faithfulness” (Lamentations 3:23b).
