Rafiki Foundation  |  God's Word at Work
MENU

King Nov 2019

The grass is green and growing, birds sing in the trees, the ground is wet and fertile, and God’s Word is being planted in many hearts here in Rafiki Village Kenya. What a blessing it is to know that God’s Word is being shared every day with each student who attends the Rafiki School and the Rafiki Institute of Classical Education. Please continue to pray that God would send the necessary spiritual rain on the hearts of these students so that the Word of God would grow in their hearts and bring them into the family of Christ or to a better understanding of what it means to live as a Christian in this sinful world.

It has been a busy time for the team here in Kenya. November marks the first classical Christian education conference to take place on the continent of Africa. The Rafiki Foundation welcomed Dr. Christopher Perrin, Ravi Jain, Dr. David Diener, Dr. Brian Williams, and Mrs. Robyn Burlew to come and share about what classical Christian education is and why it is so valuable to schools here in Kenya and to Africa as a whole. The conference was attended by missionaries, RICE Deans, headmasters, teachers, professors, church leaders, and many others from all ten African countries in which the Rafiki Foundation serves. The conference was a great encouragement and a motivation to continue on in the work to bring glory and praise to God through education.

The month of November also marks the end of a school year for Rafiki Village Kenya. All of our Form 4 (grade 12) students are currently sitting for their exams. These exams are taken by all graduating high school students and determine the universities that they will be able to attend. The exams last for three weeks. Please pray for them as they take these tests. Pray that they will be able to think clearly and perform well, but that they would also remember that their value is not determined by a test score.

The Kenya missionary team is also planning and running activities for the children who have finished school and are on break. We are doing crafts, sports, and music with the children to help them continue to grow over the school vacation. Pray that the team will be able to have a good impact on the children and that it would be a good time for them to grow and develop in character and love for God and His Word.

Thank you for your prayers and your continued support. I am thankful to have such a loving team behind me as I continue to serve in Kenya.
