King Feb 2019

Let love be genuine. Abhor what is evil; hold fast to what is good. Love one another with brotherly affection. Outdo one another in showing honor. Do not be slothful in zeal, be fervent in spirit, serve the Lord. Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer. Contribute to the needs of the saints and seek to show hospitality (Romans 12:9-13).

Happy New Year to you and may God’s blessings be upon you and your family! The new school year is in full swing here in Nairobi, and we thank God for his sustaining grace during the busy schedules that are required to begin a new school year well. I continually thank God for the opportunity to serve through the Rafiki Foundation and offer such a rich curriculum of Christian classical education to our students. This term I will be serving the Rafiki Institute of Classical Education (RICE) as Music Dean, the Rafiki School as Secondary Music Teacher, and the teachers who are eager to improve their musical abilities. I have a many-faceted job description and yet it is the work that I have been yearning to undertake. I continually praise the Lord for providing this work for me to do. This school term, I am also able to teach a violin class for school clubs! This class is the highlight of my week. The students are so eager to learn, and I am confident that they will be well on their way to mastering the basics by the end of the term.

I want to thank you for your prayers and support that never cease to encourage me. Thanks to your care and generosity, I was able to purchase a vehicle over the school break! It is an answer to prayer and I am grateful to everyone who contributed both in prayer and financially.

Over Christmas break, I constructed a short course on the topic of Church music. In January the course was officially approved as a short course by the Presbyterian University of East Africa. I will be offering the course on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month for the total of six sessions beginning in February. My prayer is that the church leaders, musicians, and music ministers who attend will be enriched and will utilize what they learn to share the truth, beauty, and goodness of God’s word through the music ministry of their church.

Prayer Requests:

• Success of the new short course on Church Music

• Grace as I continue to learn how to navigate the ropes at Rafiki Village Kenya

Praise for an answer to prayer requests is the successful purchase of an automobile.
