Ritter June 2017

Dear friends and family,

The Rafiki Bible Study (RBS) has focused on Romans this year. We started in January. Life in Liberia is hard. We struggle at times with the power the enemy has over this country. We know our Lord is stronger! We also know the sufferings of this time will vanish when we are united with Christ in glory. We know that NOTHING can separate us from God’s love.

The JSS (Junior Secondary School) has been busy this term. We installed the new prefects who are student leaders. The JSS students are competing with schools in our area in quizzing, girls’ kickball, and boys’ soccer. As Liberians say, "we ate it all" when the three teams each won their competition against another school. The entire school enjoyed our new tradition of African Costume Day. Each child and teacher wore traditional Liberian clothes if they had them.

The month of June on into September will be extremely busy here. Jeremy will leave soon to join Brittany in the U.S. to await the birth of their first child, a son. The baby is due at the end of June. The three of them plan to return between mid-August to early September. We have six short-term missionaries coming in June. Melissa, a former Rafiki missionary, will help Christie at the teachers college (Rafiki Institute of Classical Education), and we have 5 MOAM (Managers on a Mission) missionaries coming for school break. This is our third year to host MOAM. Sherri will be gone for ten days to attend The Society for Classical Learning Conference in Birmingham, Alabama along with the other Rafiki Headmasters. She will stop in Michigan and Indiana to see family while she is in the U.S. Her mother has been having some health issues. We would appreciate your prayers for her. Mike will leave the end of June for time in the U.S. to attend Village Administrators meetings and Rafiki Enrichment. We will not be traveling together due to the different times and locations of our meetings and conferences. In late September, we will fly together for our furlough in the U.S. We will be gone six weeks. Please pray for short-term missionaries to come and help cover the Village while we are in the U.S.

Thank you for your prayers and support for us. We are so thankful for you!

Grace and peace,

Sherri and Mike Ritter
