Honegger September 2024
“Oh, taste and see that the Lord is good! Blessed is the man who takes refuge in him” (Psalm 34:8).
The past few months have been bittersweet, but the Lord is good. Taste and see some of each with me...
Some of the sweet
- Thanking God that my work permit and residence card were finally renewed.
- Spending time with the Rafiki residents during the school break and facilitating enriching activities such as photography practice.
Some of the younger residents enjoying the opportunity to use digital cameras and see from new perspectives!
- Visiting friends and family last month, including being present for my brother’s wedding.
- Enjoying a graduation ceremony and various forms of celebration with our first class of seniors.
Celebrating with our first class of high school graduates!
Some of the bitter
- Saying goodbye to the Rafiki graduates. These first seven students have been godly leaders and diligent students, and everyone at the Village will miss them.
- Saying goodbye to my friend and fellow missionary Sarah McMahon, who was reassigned to the Village in Rwanda.
A celebratory/farewell dinner with the graduates and Sarah.
The graduates led a devotion for the residents and missionaries on their last night at the Village. They focused on the truth of God’s faithfulness, demonstrated in their lives and the testimonies of so many in Scripture. In all these changes for me, the graduates, and the Village, God is good and faithful. Blessed are those who take refuge in Him. May we all do so.
Prayer Requests
- For the Rafiki graduates to trust God to continue to provide for them as they face the unknowns of the future and some discouraging obstacles. Pray that they would place their hope fully on Christ and take refuge in Him.
- For me personally, as Sarah’s transfer means I have lost the daily fellowship of a close friend and teammate. Pray for provision of a friend, and that I would see God’s goodness every day.
- For Sarah to adjust well to a new country and job responsibilities.
