Honegger December 2024
“But David found strength in the LORD his God” (1 Samuel 30:6 NIV).
Because the King of Kings humbled Himself and came to earth to redeem us, the many challenges we have faced recently at the Village can actually be considered opportunities to thank our King for His protection and provision, and as opportunities to find strength in and rely on Him.
Some of these opportunities to find strength in God have included facing opposition from local government, unpredictable changes in the missionary team, and shouldering more responsibility to cover for absent teammates. God has indeed provided strength and wisdom, and I am thankful for the ways He has protected and provided for us here in Ethiopia.
- The Lord has sent Doug and Carolyn Koepke, Don Jester, and my dad, Joel Honegger, to help cover the Village.
Mr. Joel talking with some of our resident young men
- He has provided us more Rafiki mothers and teachers.
- He has kept two other graduates safe as some students at their university held protests.
- He continues to provide good medical care for resident Gadissa, who had another eye surgery this month.
- He provided safe travel and relatively smooth logistics as Ibsa, the assistant Village Administrator, and I traveled with three graduates to help them register at university and move into their dorms.
Metsy, Tizeta, and Hana were successfully registered at Hawassa University!
Please join me in thanking God for His protection and provision in these ways and others, and pray that I would continue to find strength in Christ each day. Pray for our graduates to find their strength in God and not drift from faith. Finally, pray that Gadissa’s eye surgery will be successful and for him to trust in the Lord his God for physical and spiritual strength.
As you take time to ponder the Almighty coming to earth as a baby, may you also humble yourself in reliance upon His strength and care.
Merry Christmas!
