“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God…” (Romans 12:2).

Dear friends and family,

Rafiki Village Nigeria is alive and well, though I have been negligent to keep you up to date on all that is happening. Let me catch you up!

Our work with our partner denominations continues to develop. When the Home Office was here in August, we traveled to Benue State and met with both the NKST leadership (a Reformed denomination in Nigeria) and the University of Mkar. Karen Elliott was able to renew the partnership agreement with NKST and also to sign a commitment with the University of Mkar to begin the process of affiliation for the Rafiki Institute of Classical Education (RICE) teacher training program in Nigeria. Pray that the University will move ahead with the needed process.

We have also been taking applications for the next students to be admitted into RICE in January. Thus far we have had over 300 applicants for the thirty-six positions that will be available! Please pray that the students will be qualified for attending the program. We have also just graduated our first student who has completed all three years of the program. Pray for Esther as she begins work at Rafiki when class resumes.

The Rafiki School Nigeria has also celebrated its fourth graduation of students. It was really fun to use the gym/auditorium of RICE for this wonderful occasion. Nine students were presented with diplomas (eight Rafiki children and one day student). We are excited as seven of our children have been accepted at Bingham University to begin classes October 15. For the other two, one is awaiting acceptance to the University of Jos into their law program, and our day student has qualified to join RICE. Please pray for the successful commencement of university for these plus the eight others who are returning to university to complete their degrees (including three who will begin their senior year).

Thank you for enabling me to be here and to be a part of God’s work in Nigeria!
