Rafiki Foundation  |  God's Word at Work
MENU

Eagleman Apr 2019

There have been a lot of good things happening here at the Rafiki Village in Liberia. God is truly at work changing the hearts of His people in our community and it is an honor to be a witness to it all. While some days can feel like two steps back, we can keep our eyes facing forward on our hope that is in the Lord’s capabilities and control.

Here is what has been happening at the Rafiki Village Liberia since our last newsletter:

• On New Year’s Day, we had thirteen Rafiki children decide to commit their lives to Christ through baptism! When I sat down to talk with each one of them, I was moved by their stories and reasons for wanting to commit their lives to Christ.

• Over the past 10 weeks, the Rafiki Mothers and I have been reading, discussing, and understanding in depth the Fruits of the Spirit. As we learned together as a group, we hope to be an example of these fruits in how we parent the children living at Rafiki.

• The Rafiki children had big smiles on when they received their new backpacks last month.

• During the school break, the Rafiki children spent two weeks with their extended family members. This time with their family is crucial for the children to understand a part of their identity and background. Although their living family members could not care for them right after the war when the children were orphaned, it is important for them to catch up for lost time.

• The new facility for Rafiki’s teacher training college is now complete. We will now be working to fill it with books and desks for the forty students attending the college.

• Track and Field—We have twenty-six school students who qualified to represent Rafiki at the National Track and Field Competition. This was a very BIG deal for our students and several of them placed in their different events.

There are a lot of ways you can pray for Jeremy and I as well as the work at the Rafiki Village Liberia.

Please pray for:

Discernment when seeking God’s will in difficult decisions.

• The hearts of the Rafiki children.

• New opportunities to share our hope in Christ.

• New ways to buy products from local widows in the community.

Again, we are incredibly thankful for all of our friends and family who have loved and supported us over the past four year as we have served in Liberia.
