Serving In: Zambia
External ID: 123

Rose Allinder has served with the Rafiki Foundation since 2000. Her first short-term trip to Ghana with Rafiki sparked her commitment to the foundation’s mission to train Africans. She was then involved in the founding of the first Rafiki School at the first Rafiki Village in Ghana.

Rose is currently the headmaster at the Rafiki Village Zambia. Before her work at Rafiki, Rose was a special education teacher and associate professor of special education at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Special Education from the University of Central Arkansas, a Master of Science in Special Education, and a Ph.D. in Education and Human Development from Vanderbilt University.

While Rose was teaching in the United States, she learned about Rafiki’s plan to build orphanages and schools. She felt that her educational experience aligned well with Rafiki's mission. Moreover, God had been placing missions on her heart. As she studied Romans 12 in Bible Study Fellowship, she began to see Paul’s words in a new light: “Present yourself as a living sacrifice. . . .This is your spiritual act of worship."

Rose says that living in Africa has made her more appreciative of the educational opportunities that she received as a child because she has seen many African children have little access to education. She is grateful that Rafiki Schools give students both solid educational and spiritual training. Rose continues to be humbled by the dedication of her African co-laborers to improve their lives, the lives of their children, and the lives of each student in the Rafiki Schools.

"I appeal to you therefore, brothers, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship. Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect" (Romans 12:1-2).
