Mollie Mitchell

Mollie Mitchell was introduced to the Rafiki Foundation through the Christian classical school in Orlando, FL where she worked. Intrigued by Rafiki’s implementation of a Christian classical curriculum in African contexts and their establishment of classical teacher training centers throughout different regions of Africa, Mollie decided to learn more by touring the Rafiki Home Office in December 2023. In the following months, she took additional steps to discern whether God was leading her to partner with Rafiki. Just as Mollie was wrapping up the school year, the Lord made it clear that he was opening the door for long-term service with Rafiki in Ghana.

Mollie is passionate about quality Christian education and has worked in this field since 2007. She holds a Bachelor of Science in English Education and has primarily worked as a middle school English language arts teacher in Central Florida. From 2012 to 2014, Mollie lived and served in Malawi as an education consultant for a Christian child sponsorship organization. Since her move back to the U.S. in 2014, Mollie has felt a draw to return to the continent of Africa. She is thankful for the subsequent opportunities to spend short-term stints in Malawi working with teachers, school leaders, and education programs. Through these opportunities, God clarified in Mollie that he’s wired her heart for teacher mentorship by coming alongside Christian teachers in Africa.

Mollie is thrilled to be serving at the Rafiki Training Village in Accra. While calling Ghana home over the next few years, she will serve as the headmistress of Rafiki’s preschool-9th grade school. Her role will include working alongside the school’s headteachers and providing teachers with ongoing training, classroom observations, and feedback. Recalling staff devotions in Malawi with great fondness, Mollie is especially excited to participate in daily Bible study with the teachers at Rafiki’s school in Ghana.
