Laurie Eastup
Laurie Eastup
Laurie Eastup has served as the Rafiki School Headmaster at the Rafiki Village Tanzania since 2018. Along with that, she also serves as the Village Administrator. After she began to feel called to international missions in college, Laurie was introduced to the Rafiki Foundation and went on a trip to the Rafiki Village Malawi in 2008. During her two months there, she learned that God was preparing her for full-time service. During her time in Malawi, Laurie thought, “This is what I was made for.”
After her trip, Laurie finished her bachelor’s degree in accounting and later earned master’s degrees in management information systems and educational leadership. She also taught math, business, and algebra for three-and-a-half years and was a school district administrator working for the Research, Data, & Accountability department.
As an educator, Laurie appreciates Rafiki’s mission to equip Africans to transform Africa. Moreover, Laurie believes in the foundation’s commitment to sharing the Word of God. She is thankful that everyone in the Rafiki Villages studies the Bible together each day.
Now that Laurie is serving in the Rafiki Village Tanzania, she feels thankful for God’s perfect timing. She says that living in Africa has taught her to have a greater dependence on God and to be more flexible. She says her work in the Rafiki Village Tanzania is the most joy-filled work she has ever done. Laurie prays that more people will be called to serve as missionaries alongside of her.
