Carolyn and Doug Koepke

Serving In: Nigeria
External ID: 102

Carolyn and Doug Koepke, currently serving in the Rafiki Village Nigeria, have served with the Rafiki Foundation since 2000. Doug is the Village Plant Manager, and Carolyn is the Orphan Care Administrator. After visiting friends serving with Rafiki, Carolyn and Doug began to consider how they could use their skills to serve the Lord. They have learned that God uses His people to accomplish His great purposes.

Before joining the field as missionaries, Doug served in the United States Air Force and worked as an automotive technician while Carolyn studied nursing, receiving bachelor’s and master’s degrees before becoming a nurse and nursing instructor. The couple was married on June 13, 1987. Carolyn and Doug say that living in Africa and raising two of their daughters on the field has made them seek compassion, wisdom, and patience in all things. They have become less enamored with material goods and more focused on serving the people around them. In their almost twenty years on the field, they have been reminded to continually pray and thank God for His provision. Carolyn and Doug encourage those who are considering entering the field to seek family and friends to pray for them.

The Koepke’s remain excited about the education Rafiki children receive, noting that Rafiki’s curriculum profoundly impacts the lives of children as they receive an excellent education which demonstrates God’s truth, beauty, and goodness. Carolyn and Doug also thank God for the privilege of witnessing spiritual transformation in the Rafiki children and staff through the daily Bible study.
