Sara and Phil Nickels

Serving In: Tanzania
External ID: 198

Sara and Phil Nickels currently serve in Tanzania where they have been since 2010. Phil is a village administrator and the agriculture manager, and Sara is the Widows Program Coordinator and teaches art and music in the teacher’s college.

The Nickels learned about the Rafiki Foundation through their participation in Bible Study Fellowship. They began to pray and “push on the doors gently,” seeing if it was God’s will for them to serve full time. Having been faithful to His call, the Nickels have learned to grow in their submission to God’s wisdom and timing while living in Africa. They know how to be still when dealing with situations that are outside of their control. They have also learned what it is like to raise their two daughters on the field! Their girls quickly began to enjoy their many new playmates at the Rafiki Village. From the time they arrived in Tanzania, the family has felt an overwhelming sense of peace, knowing that they are exactly in the place God wants them to be. A long way from their former Illinois, the Nickels were grain farmers before joining Rafiki in full-time missions work. They now see the seeds of God’s love being planted in the Rafiki children every day in Tanzania, and they are confident that the harvest will be plenty!

“Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory forever and ever. Amen” (1 Timothy 1:17).
