Child Village: Uganda
Child ID: CB036
When Tendo came to Rafiki Village Uganda, her father was dead and her mother was deathly ill in the hospital. Before living at Rafiki, she and her two sisters were in the care of their elderly grandmother. The grandmother requested help for the three girls from the Social Welfare office. She was caring for many orphaned children and wanted a future and a hope for the three sisters. Tendo and her two sisters arrived at their new home at the Rafiki Village Uganda in September 2005. Now, Tendo's favorite subjects are biology and math because they are practical subjects. She could improve her Luganda skills and be willing to practice it more often. She recently enjoyed a science experiment which required her to leave bread to grow mold and then examine the outcome under a microscope. She was pleased that one of her art dioramas of a deserted village was chosen to be displayed in the school dining hall.
