My Name is

Child Village: Uganda
Child ID: CB030
Sarah was born prematurely in a private clinic in March 2005. She was taken to a local hospital and her weight upon admission was 3.2 lbs. Her mother disappeared soon after she took Sarah to the hospital. There was no other information about her or mother, and no one ever came forward to claim her. She was placed at a local babies' home and then transferred to the Rafiki Village Uganda in April 2005. She now says, “I am learning in my personal devotion time that I should love other people as much as I love myself.” Sarah hopes to become a doctor in the future, so she is working very hard in science and math classes. She recalls a recent science experiment where the entire class entered an empty room to shout as loudly as they could, stepped out, and then listened to the echo of their shouting. In a social studies class, she enjoyed learning about the early explorers Henry Stanley and Winston Churchill. The latter named Uganda the "pearl of Africa" because of its magnificence and brilliant beauty. Sarah beamed when she heard Churchill describe her birth country as the "pearl of Africa."
