Rafiki Foundation  |  Training Africans to Transform Africa for Christ

My Name is

Child Village: Zambia
Child ID: CF022
Richard’s mother died in 2005 and his father died in 2006. He then lived in the home of his grandmother and aunt with three other orphaned children. The aunt sold vegetables to provide for the family but the children were not being cared for adequately and there was no money available for them to attend school. Social welfare asked the Rafiki Foundation to intervene in the life of Richard. Richard joined his new family in May of 2008. Now in grade 9, Richard says of himself, "This year, I am surprised how much I have enjoyed learning about poetry. More and more, I am understanding that my school time and education are not only going to benefit me but also my country, community, family." Richard is conversational, has a quick mind, and an enjoyable sense of humor. He seems to get on well with almost everyone. His Term two report card showed several nice gains; however, Richard has not yet realized he is capable of even more. At this point, he is thinking of a future in business, with electronics and computers.
