My Name is

Child Village: Uganda
Child ID: CB017
Martin was abandoned on May 2002 when he was two years old. A stranger took Martin to the police, and they brought Martin to a babies' home in Kampala. Martin arrived at the Rafiki Village Uganda in February 2004. Martin quickly adjusted well to his new surroundings. Now, Martin’s favorite school subject is science. His favorite hymn is “Be Thou My Vision.” Martin chose John 13:33 as his favorite Bible verse because “it tells me Jesus is still with us.” Martin reads widely and excels in English and literature. He also enjoys biology and chemistry, and he particularly loves spending time in the science laboratory working on experiments. He successfully tested for the presence of starch and sugar in Irish potatoes. He was part of a team that memorized and recited Rudyard Kipling's "If" and was pleased by the audience's reception. Martin says studying is tiresome but, in the end, he will reap the benefits of studying. Martin is preparing for his General Certificate of Education Ordinary Level national exams in November.
