Martha

Child Village: Liberia
Child ID: CG048
Martha's' parents were killed in the Ivory Coast conflict. She and her brother were put into the care of their grandmother who lived in a tin and thatch shack that was built on stilts over a swamp, only to be reached by crossing several wooden bridges made of planks and sticks. Living in this environment with a grandmother who had no resources finally led the grandmother to contact the Rafiki Foundation for help. Darris and Martha now have a new home at the Rafiki Village in Liberia with new brothers and sisters and a loving mother. Martha really enjoys spelling because she believes that it will be useful to her in whatever she decides to do with her life. If God allows it, she would like to be a missionary. She wants to teach others how to read the Bible. She loves her teachers and has lots of friends in her class.
