My Name is

Joseph Owen

Child Village: Uganda
Child ID: CB070
Owen and his three siblings were living in a situation that required immediate intervention according to Uganda social welfare. Their father died in July 2006 from complications due to AIDS and their mother was also HIV+ and not expected to live long. The children are all HIV negative, but they were very thin and anemic when they were found. Their mother could no longer care for them and the District removed them from their situation and into the Rafiki Village Uganda. All four children arrived to their new home in November 2006. Owen recently enjoyed a motor vehicle engineering practicum, and he completed a two-month practicum with a local motor garage in Wakiso. He is working hard to improve in math, which is a key subject in his course. He is learning to be honest and not to be tempted to take spare parts from peoples' cars. He was grateful to successfully replace an old car battery as part of a course project.
