John

Child Village: Zambia
Child ID: CF079
John’s parents were killed in a tragic bus accident. John’s mother was pregnant with his little sister, Chipo, at the time of the accident and she lived just long enough to deliver the baby girl. The mother’s single sister collected the children after the accident and they had been living with her ever since. She did not have employment but survived on piece work and was thrilled that John and Chipo could have a permanent home at the Rafiki Village Zambia. They arrived in September 2014. Today John is in grade 2. John believes Jesus is the One who died for us. He knows the Bible is the Word of God. John is not reading his Bible on his own, but listens as his Rafiki mother and brothers read. He does pray alone. When he prays, he asks God to give him wisdom and to help him love others. John thanks God for answering his prayer for help to improve in school. He is able to tell when someone does something wrong or right and it makes him feel good when the right choice is made. Joshua is one of John's best-liked Bible stories because it teaches him to be courageous.
