My Name is

Jerome

Jerome

Child Village: Uganda
Child ID: CB027
Jerome was abandoned at a local hospital in Kampala Uganda on the evening of March 5, 2005. He was admitted to the Special Care Unit of the hospital by the police. The story even appeared in the local paper and on the radio, but no one came to claim him. He was named Jerome by the hospital staff. The medical social worker requested that he be placed in a babies' home for care and protection. The Jinja District Probation and Welfare Officer placed Jerome at the Amani Babies' Cottage in Jinga and then transferred him to Rafiki. Now a Rafiki child, Jerome's favorite subjects are math and science. He enjoys learning about numbers, adding them up, and multiplying and subtracting them. He loves science experiments and was recently fascinated by the the fermentation of ripe bananas and yeast over three days to produce alcohol. Jerome also enjoys studying logic and art. With his classmates, he mastered John 1:1-5 in Latin and presented it from memory during the end-of-term recitation.
