Gifty arrived at the Rafiki Village Ghana in June of 2009. Gifty is a gifted young woman who truly lives up to her name! She is kind, respectful, helpful, and intelligent. She works hard and succeeds in all of her classes. Gifty trusts that God will carry out all the wonderful plans he has prepared for her.

Isaac
Isaac's mother died while delivering him, and his father died the following year in a car accident.

After her mother's death, Thandiwe was sent to live with her great grandmother.

Abigail was abandoned in the annex of a Nairobi hospital grounds.
Ndidi
Ndidi lost her father in 2005 and her mother in 2008.

Leonard is a double orphan. He and his twin brother, Boniface, lived with extended relatives for a time before arriving at Rafiki.

Francisca’s mother died after a short illness when Francisca was one year old. Her father died six months later.
Caleb
Caleb’s mother was placed in prison when he was young child, and his father is unknown.
Ben
Before arriving at the Rafiki village, Ben and his five siblings lived with their grandmother, along with her six children, in a one-room house.
Tapiwa
Tapiwa and her three sisters lost their mother due to high blood pressure and their father to alcoholism.
David
David’s mother died in 2007, and his father died in 2008. He arrived at the Rafiki Village Ghana in 2010.
Spencer
Both of Spencer's parents are deceased, and he was living with his elderly, impoverished grandmother in a desperate situation.
Fiyete
Fiyete was just a few months old when her mother became sick and was hospitalized.
Dereck
Dereck and his twin sister, Diana, were brought to the Rafiki Village Ghana in 2006.
Harriet
Harriet's father passed away from AIDs, and her mother was also diagnosed HIV+ and was no longer able to care for her.
Mwaka
Mwaka’s aunt cared for her after the death of her parents.
John
John’s mother abandoned him, and his father remains unknown.
