Darris

Child Village: Liberia
Child ID: CG047
Darris' parents were killed during the conflict in the Ivory Coast. He and his sister were put into the care of their grandmother who lived in a tin and thatch shack that was built on stilts over a swamp, only to be reached by crossing several wooden bridges made of planks and sticks. Living in this environment with a grandmother who had no resources finally led the grandmother to contact the Rafiki Foundation for help. Darris and Martha now have a new home at the Rafiki Village in Liberia with new brothers and sister and a loving mother. Darrius is really enjoying science this year because he likes to learn about God's creation. His least favorite subject is math because he struggles on his math tests. He is thankful for his new tutor, Mr. Abraham, who is now helping him. He is not quite sure what he wants to be when he grows up yet.
