Melissa Wiedemann

Serving In: Ghana

Melissa Wiedemann worked for Lockheed Martin Corporation for eighteen years before, she says, “The Lord convicted me that I was not where He wanted me.” Following God’s leading, she enrolled in the Orlando Reformed Theological Seminary after having earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in computer science. By God’s providence, her first class at RTS was a missions class.

Though she had previous missions experience in Africa, Melissa says she eventually chose to serve with Rafiki by seeking God’s guidance through continued prayer. She also appreciated Rafiki’s long-term vision of helping Africans become godly contributors in their respective nations by training and equipping new generations to serve the Lord.

Previously, Melissa served in Ghana at the Rafiki School from 2005 to 2008 and in Tanzania as the Headmaster from 2008 to 2014.

She has recently been delighted to join her brothers and sisters in Christ on the field again at the Rafiki Village Ghana. She says that living in Africa has impacted her spiritual life. She has grown deeper in the knowledge of God and more in love with Him and His creation. She says she increasingly understands the difference between “faith lived” and “faith held” as she witnesses the love of Christ in others and herself grow every day.
